About
My name is Jurisic Petar,
but in the
world of art photography I am known as Photo Pit. Ever since elementary school,
through high school, all the way to university, I went
parallel to additional courses and I was educated in photography. Simply,
photography has the magical power to enchant me, to seduce me aesthetically, to
awaken my imagination, my senses, my soul, but also to open up new spheres of
thought and experience of a new world. It is quite fascinating that you can be
extremely frustrated with the world in which you live, and that your travels
take you to a distance of only a few miles from your home, where you might
encounter the nature that exists in such beauty that leaves you speechless. This
creates my desire to convey the beauty to other people - to share that joy and
illuminating silence with you.
When I am in the nature, then I dwell in my inner world,
but this inner world is open, filled with joy and desire
to share the joy and beauty with other people, to say
loudly but calmly:
Beauty is there
beside you. It is up to you whether you are open
towards this emotion or not. You may have the impression
that you live in hell, that this postmodern world is
horrible? I agree with you. But we are also surrounded
with what might be called the heavenly or angelic world,
but it should be noticed and we need to open our soul
and senses for it – for the nature.
Two decades ago (early nineties) I began to cooperate
with Nikola Kitanović, who worked in fashion and visual
projects such as
D & N or dragon&nikkolai,
6y and other. He conveyed his theoretical knowledge of
art photography to me through practical work together. I
engaged in these projects, at first as someone who
performs only technical tasks, but later I took the
initiative and began to impose my own standards. Nikola
has little technical knowledge of cameras, but in his
own way he managed to introduce me to photographing
models and to make me feel the same way as I feel when
photographing nature. Of course I enjoy photographing
models indoors, because it is a really big challenge for
me, but I am even more pleased when photographing models
in the nature - that doubles the excitement. Many photos
of models I made alone, but I also made many of them
working together with Nikola. - He knows how to
communicate with the model to derive an additional
expression, extra energy, extra emotion. And then our
mutual understanding becomes an exceptional creative
exchange, which, I believe, you will be able to share
with me. In any case, some photos of models that you
will see in this web site are product of our work
together. This does not mean that I am dependent on him
creatively, or that he considers himself superior to me
in that sense, but rather, as already said, it is our
creative exchange that is worth sharing with you.
The human body of is full of hidden secrets,
undiscovered beauty, and the beauty that you want to
share with other people when you discover it - because
art is giving, a gift to other people - as I have
already received a gift by having experienced the visual
beauty of the scene. After all, I have received a gift
or talent I do not know by whom and I do not know how
(all the theories about where talent comes from are
disputed, at least for me) - and then, it is just right,
if I have got something so big that goes beyond the
individual, to share it with others, so that others
could enjoy that beauty. I intentionally took the quote
from Dostoevsky, because his life was really a
hell, but his message “Beauty
will save the world” sounds ennobling, encouraging -
beautiful.
I am currently working on the projects
Coronidas,
Squirrewolf and I
am doing so with great joy. But in addition, I am often
taking my camera and going to the nature, to some clean
place where I find beauty that I want to share with you.
Sometimes I bring my models along and then I make photos
that I like most.
I worked as a press photographer for the magazine
Novo Slovo. I have
photographed weddings, some special celebrations,
gatherings of people, ceremonies and the like, but I
prefer to do art photography and this is what defines me
as a photographer and what I am from inside. I have
decades of experience in individual and team work. Part
of that experience I share with you now and hope you
will be able to feel at least a part of the positive
emotions that I invested in my work.
With Love and Respect, Photo
Pit.
